As I pondered this, I was struck by a statement by President Russell M. Nelson, who asked us to ‘replace … contention with peace’ (“Peacemakers Needed,” general conference, Apr. 2023). He recalled the words of Jesus Christ, who said, ‘Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God’ (Matthew 5:9).
