Signs at the construction site of the Fairview Texas Temple have been vandalized twice, with police investigating both incidents.
The construction site of the Fairview Texas Temple in North Texas has been targeted by graffiti twice over the past two months, according to local news reports and Church officials.
In the most recent incident, the words “Trump Is God” were spray-painted in red across a sign displaying a rendering of the temple, WFAA reported.
Police said another sign at the site had previously been spray-painted with the word “MAGA.” That incident occurred sometime between 1 and 2 a.m., according to the station.
Investigators obtained video of a possible suspect in connection with one of the incidents, but the footage was recorded from a distance and was not clear enough to immediately identify the person.
No arrests or citations have been announced.
Fairview Mayor John Hubbard condemned the vandalism.
“There is no excuse for vandalism or hateful activity,” Hubbard told WFAA. “I ask every Fairview resident to condemn this action and voice support for our neighbors.”
Hubbard also said he does not believe the vandalism is connected to the long-running disagreement over the temple project.
A Temple Project That Has Drawn Local Debate
The Fairview Texas Temple has been at the center of a years-long local debate, primarily involving the proposed height of its steeple.
The Church originally proposed a taller temple and steeple, but after mediation with the town, the project was significantly reduced in size and height. The Fairview Town Council approved the revised plan in April 2025.
The approved design includes a 120-foot steeple. Debate resurfaced in 2026 when Fairview officials launched a campaign asking Church leaders to agree to another reduction in its height. The Church said it intends to proceed with the plan previously approved by the town.
Construction is now underway.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the Fairview Texas Temple was held on February 21, 2026. The planned single-story temple will be approximately 30,000 square feet and will sit on an 8.16-acre site along Stacy Road.
The Dallas Morning News separately reported on September 8 that the temple construction site had been vandalized twice, citing a spokesperson for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Police have not publicly identified a suspect or established a motive for either incident. There is currently no evidence linking the vandalism to the previous dispute surrounding the temple project.
The investigation remains ongoing.
